Mosquito

Mosquitoes (Culicidae) are a family of two-winged insects. There are about 3500 species and are found on all continents except Antarctica. They inhabited mostly stagnant waters and marshes.

Mosquitoes in the world are among the most dangerous enemies of the people. While most of them are harmless, some species carry dangerous diseases today, leading to a death of people and animals. Other mosquitoes are useful, they recycle the water area and destroyed some pests. Different types of mosquitoes are prevalent in the world and exceptions are only the polar regions and the deserts.

While in the warm countries mosquitoes are active during the whole year-round, here in Bulgaria they appear in the spring -autumn season. In the recent years it is noticed that the mosquitoes become active mainly during the months of July-August, as their peak sometimes is even in September.
